Social Media and Marketing Support

Under the direction of the Marketing Department, this position is responsible for representing the Sheridan Nurseries voice in social media by facilitating coversations around content that is meaningful to our guests.  The role will also be responsible for providing administrative support for the Marketing department, including planning and facilitating our Event Program for our Retail Stores.

Duties iclude, but not limited to:

  • Work with internal team in the planning stages of campaigns and programs for events and social media.
  • Project management and execution of events and social media activities
  • Management of social channels including but not specific to Facebook and Twitter
  • Report guest feedback/questions to appropriate business areas
  • Support overall event and social media goals, objectives and strategies
  • Monitor audience related topics and other tools to report findings
  • Maintain timely industry knowledge to ensure tools and channels are being used correctly
  • Measuring the impact of social media on the overall marketing efforts

The ideal candidate can multi-task, coordinate several projects at once, has experience and knowledge in social media tools and techniques and has excellent communication skills.

Nursery Positions
 
Potting Foreperson

Position Summary:

This full time position involves leading and motivating a crew to work efficiently and safely to meet production targets. During spring and summer supervise the potting of close to 1 million plants, then other growing activities throughout the year.

Skills Required:

•Organized with accurate record keeping and reporting
•Excellent communication skills
•Problem solving skills - ability to resolve conflicts quickly and effectively
•Ability to work well in a team environment as well as individually

General Farm Labour

Position Summary

These full time seasonal positions are in Gerogetown Ontario. The positions involve repetitive work which may include pruning, potting, and plant maintenance up to and including early spring.  Must be able to work in a fast paced and physically demanding environment often outside in inclement weather conditions. Will require evening and weekend work, depending on seasonal weather patterns.

Retail Garden Centre Positions
Georgetown  
Assistant Manager (Seasonal)

Position Summary

This seasonal management position involves the overall supervision of staff as well as the implementation of sales strategies, marketing programs, merchandising, inventory control, and store presentation standards. This hands on 9 month seasonal position runs from April through to the end of December in our Georgetown Garden Centre.

Accountabilities

The Assistant Manager is responsible for daily supervision, training and monitoring of staff. They oversee events, employee development, administration, human resources, health and safety, inventory control, equipment and facility maintenance, and policy enforcement in the garden centre. The Assistant Manager is also involved in the hands on set up, merchandising and moving of products throughout the store during the changing seasons.

Skills Required

The ideal candidate has quality experience in active supervision, training, systems development, operations and demonstrates excellent leadership and supervision skills. Computer literacy is essential. Retailing experience is an asset. The candidate will work days, evenings and weekends as required in all types of changing weather through the seasons.

Nursery Plant Sales Associates

Position Summary

This is a full time position from June to December. The duties of this position include the selling, stocking, merchandising, and overall assistance with nursery plant categories (shrubs, trees, evergreens, vines, fruit and roses).
Accountabilities

Nursery Plant Sales Associates are responsible for giving our guests excellent service and quality advice in the categories assigned to them.

Scarborough  
Receiver

Position Summary

The duties of this position include inspecting and verifying incoming and outgoing goods against invoices or other documents at the garden centre while safely loading and unloading product from transport vehicles to and from their storage areas.

Accountabilities

This Receiver is responsible for maintaining an internal record-keeping system, recording shipping and receiving variances, rejecting damaged goods, packing and unpacking goods, maintaining the storage facilities to protect product from damage and operating a forklift safely in accordance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act..

Skills Required

The ideal candidate has excellent organizational and communication skills. Holds a valid G class driver’s license with a clean driving abstract. Must be computer proficient with POS experience as an asset. Has experience in shipping/receiving with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23kg) continuously during an 8 hour day and is certified to operate a forklift. This person will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Truck Driver (Seasonal)

Position Summary

The duties of this position include driving up to a 5 ton truck in rural and urban areas including downtown Toronto, loading and unloading of product and overall assistance in the garden centre.
Accountabilities

Truck Drivers are responsible for delivering and receiving product in excellent condition, obeying all MTO requirements and keeping organized documentation of all trucking and delivery related information.

Skills Required

The ideal candidate has quality experience in driving in the city with an enthusiastic approach to guests. Holds a G class license with a clean driving abstract. This position is required to work days, evenings, and weekends as scheduled.
