Sheridan Nurseries Receives Two National Awards
Press Release: January 30th, 2013

We are delighted to announce that Sheridan Nurseries has received two awards as part of Canadian Nursery and Landscape Association’s (CNLA) National Awards of Excellence program.
We were recently honoured with the prestigious accolades of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Grower of the Year Award for 2013 and the Chrysler Garden Centre of the Year Award.
This is the second year in a row, that the RBC Grower of the Year Award has been presented to us. The evaluation process was based on International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) criteria, in the following key areas:
- Economic Performance and Marketplace Position
- Innovation in Production and Growing Techniques
- Market Orientation and Company Image
- Environmental Standards
- Human Resources Policies
The judging panel was represented by industry and business experts including growers, horticulturists, educators and related business professionals.
Sheridan Nurseries will now go on to represent Canadian growers in the AIPH Grower of the Year Awards in September 2013.
Our Unionville, Ontario Garden Centre also received the Chrysler Garden Centre of the Year Award. Upon winning several Landscape Ontario Garden Centre Awards of Excellence in October, we were able to qualify to participate in the national competition. Evaluation focused on growth in the area of teams, gardens, environment, connections, sales, technology and sustainability.
These impressive awards come as our company embarks on its 100th anniversary in business.
Karl Stensson, Sheridan Nurseries’ President says: “In our 100th year in business, what better way to celebrate than to be named Canadian Grower of the Year for the second year in a row, as well as the Garden Centre of the Year. It is an honour to receive these national awards.
"They are a direct result of the commitment to excellence by our entire team. We are very proud to represent Canada at the international level.”
